There are three basic types of domestic gas boiler:

• Heat only boiler
  - stores the hot water it produces in a tank and from there provides central heating and hot running water.
• System boilers - has all of the components to run your central heating inside the boiler itself (the pump for instance).
• Combi boilers - these heat water as you need it, removing the need for a storage tank and provides hot water almost instantly.
